Advania‘s Fall Conference 2012

Advania's Fall Conference will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Reykjavík on the 7th of September 2012. Advania‘s Fall Conference is a non-profit event, partly sponsored by Advania‘s partners and vendors, and has been held by Advania and its predecessors for eighteen years. Around 900 guests are expected to show up at the 2012 conference and they will attend around 40 lectures on various topics within the information technology sectors. Foreign speakers will be around 20; mainly from key partners of Advania.

The main keynote speaker of the Advania Fall Conference in 2012 will be Dan Lyons, IT editor of international magazine, Newsweek, and former IT editor of Forbes magazine. Dan Lyons combines deep knowledge of the technology industry with a satirical eye. He has penned cover stories for Newsweek on Apple, Google, Facebook, Twitter, artificial intelligence and robotics. On stage he is witty, engaging and fast on his feet, garnering rave reviews from audiences. Other keynote speakers will be Dr. Björn Zoëga who is the CEO of Landspitali - The National University Hospital of Iceland – who‘s going to talk about the high-tech hospital they‘re building, and Janne Sigurðsson who is the CEO of Alcoa Fjardaál, who‘s going to discuss the vital role of IT within the aluminum smelting sector.

This year the themes for the four conference tracks are Efficency (Sparnaður) for CFOs and CTOs, Practice (Notkun) with an emphasis on retail and service, Methodology (Aðferðafræði) for non IT-users of IT and Function (Virkni) for developers and technology enthusiasts. Each tracks will have around ten lectures on differents aspects on its theme; ERP, HR, payroll, BI, VoIP, databases, hosting, security, usability, project management, design, web development, apps, etc.

Advania's Fall Conference is Iceland's biggest IT event and few other IT events for the B2B sector in Scandinavia attract such a big audience. The event is organized from A to Z by the experienced staff of Advania that organized events that around 11,000 guests attended in 2011. Advania has a staff of 1,100 people and around 20 offices throughout the Nordic region: Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Latvia.
