Advania’s HPC Cloud Enables Award-winning Research
As researchers and developers need to solve larger, more complex problems more efficiently and with ever-tightening timeframes, HPC is a key component to accelerating these projects, providing powerful compute resources that need not be implemented locally.
Working closely with our partners at UberCloud over the past few months, Advania provided HPC Cloud resources in a collaborative effort with other partners enabling the development of a new software tool by the Living Matter Laboratory of Stanford University.
This research project focused on assessing potential cardiac arrhythmia, an undesirable and potentially lethal side effect of some medications. The development of this multi-scale 3-dimensional model of the heart that can predict the risk of drug-induced arrhythmia enables drug developers to quickly assess the viability of a new compound, which means better and safer drugs can reach the market more quickly to improve patients’ lives.
Recently, the Living Heart Project (LHP) was recognized in Denver, Colorado during SC17 – the 30th International Conference for HPC, Networking, Storage, and Analysis:
The Stanford Living Heart Project team (along with reps from UberCloud, Dassault/Simulia, Advania, and HPE –all who contributed to supporting the project), won the prestigious 2017 HPCwire Editors’ Choice Award in the category "Best Use of HPC in the Cloud".
Judged to be among the best at utilizing HPC to achieve real-world innovation, UberCloud was also awarded the Hyperion Award for Innovation Excellence for “HPC Simulations of the Impact of Drug-induced Arrhythmias in Living Hearts” – http://biomechanics.stanford.edu/paper/MEheart.pdf

We are excited to be a major contributor in supporting this award-winning research’s success story, and additional recognition makes us even more confident that Advania's HPCaaS cloud offers the flexibility to enable great things, help further research, and power the future!
